The School

The Malta School of Drama and Dance forms part of Milkiel Anton Vassalli College within the Ministry of Education.

The Malta School of Drama and Dance participates actively in the education of children, young people and adults.  The school encourages the exploration of ideas and values, instigates the imagination, stimulates intellectual and aesthetic development and pushes back all those frontiers which limit discovery and innovation.

The school offers broad and thorough training to those members of the community interested in theatrical disciplines at various levels. Whether dancing, acting or even the design of stage costumes or scriptwriting any interested individual can find a course which suits his or her particular aspirations in this field. This is the result of viewing all the aspects related to the theatre as a ‘rehearsal for life’, as well as the various engagements with other organisations, local as well as foreign, which require not only talent from the individuals involved but also proper tuition in a variety of theatrical skills.

In particular, the school focuses on:

During the 2018-2019 scholastic year the school had over 650 students attending over 20 different courses in various disciplines of drama and dance with most of its students sitting for different exams in the performing arts with a hundred percent success rate.

Above all, the MSDD teaches, researches and activates programmes which bring an exciting and stimulating character to the lives of its many students. We are proud of this catalytic effect related to the theatrical disciplines, an effect which is proclaimed in the school’s belief and expressed through an atmosphere brimming with energy and talent.
